For one side, the rivalry renewed was just as good the second time around. For the other, a proud team was left lamenting missed opportunities.
Coach John Chatham, PISD Assistant Athletic Director and Girls’ Athletic Coordinator, said the Cross Country girls team had done something that had never happened before. All 23 girls in the team had showed up for the first real practice of the season at 6:15 in the morning. Coach Chatham said that he feels “pretty solid” about four of the girls on the Varsity team, and there is a “nucleus” of about 10 more vying for the last three positions of the seven-girl team. There are a total of 23 In spite of the heat, the Cross Country teams have been out and practicing, and Coach Chatham opened am practice to the boys as well until the weather begins to cool down.

The Pittsburg Lady Pirate volleyball team got a measure of revenge against the team who defeated them in the finals of the Silver Bracket at the Hughes Springs Volleyball Tournament last week.
